Still 27 balmy degrees

Here are three new books that are sitting on my desk. I’ve got an hour to read and draft before hitting the slopes of higher ed.

Prairie Fever
Mary Biddinger
Steel Toe Books, 2007

(Come on with a title like that, how could I NOT read this?)

Underlife
January Gill O’Neil
CavanKerry Press, 2009

(Special thanks to the author for sending this book to me!)

Temper
Beth Bachmann
University of Pittsburgh Press, 2009

(Special thanks to the PTC Ottenheimer Library for buying this book!)

Help support poets and poetry by either buying or borrowing a copy of one of these books today.

I just read Temper at B and N, and I thought you would like it–pretty lyrical. Oh, and very familiar subject matter (LOL), but its own approach. I liked it, and I read it really quickly. I probably need to read it again at a slower pace.

Hey, T. I think I'm going to post my thoughts on Temper on Wednesday. Will keep you posted! (I also read it quickly and plan to go back and read more slowly tonight.)

I emailed you about it! The other book I read was *The End of the West* by Michael Dickman. I just read that he's an identical twin poet or something.

Hah! I know. I read your email first. Email me about the Dickman.

I loved Prairie Fever.

Suzanne, thanks for the note. I'm excited to read them all.
